Review Posts
Review Posts highlight your experience with an online resource that can help you with creation or presentation of your work online. Not only will you be learning about a resource that might be useful in your own future work, but also you’ll be helping others add to their own toolbox of resources (or steer clear of poor choices).
The Goal
The goal of a review post is to explain to others what a resource is, how it works, and why someone might use it. It also includes the author’s rating of the resource on a scale of 1 to 10.
Essential Skills
When you complete this assignment, you’ll be demonstrating the Essential Skills listed below. Skills in bold will be particularly emphasized while assessing your work.

- Composing with clarity and focus
- Developing proficiency and fluency with the tools of technology
- Expressing yourself effectively through visual media
- Forming opinions, original thought and ideas
- Revising based on feedback and reflection
- Using evidence to support original thoughts and ideas
Rubric
Use this rubric to ensure that your work meets standards. Please be sure to print it, fill it out, and hand it in before submitting your blog post for review.
Note that some repeating standards (draft document, featured image, etc.) are presented in shortened form to preserve space. Please refer to their descriptions in the Recommendation Post rubric for full descriptions.
How it Works
- Review candidates (from the list, or pick your own with teacher’s approval)
- Choose three candidates that you might be interested in reviewing
- Candidates are chosen by students in random order — if one of your candidates is already taken, please choose another
- Spend time trying your resource and learning about how it works
- Create a draft that is a least 1 paragraph (if written) or an outline (if podcast or screencast) which explains what your resource is, how it works, and why someone might use it
- Assemble components (Google Doc draft, featured image, other media, etc. — see the Recommendation Post for more details on individual components)
- Fill out and submit the Rubric above, making sure that all items meet standards
- Create and submit your post for teacher review (including title, content, tags, the “Review” category, featured image, etc.)
- Revise your post (if necessary) based upon teacher feedback
